Avoid credit card debt with new Sainsbury's card

Avoid credit card debt with new Sainsbury's card

- Wednesday, 8 September 2010

Consumers could avoid getting into credit card debt if they sign up to Sainsbury's new Gold Card.

That is because Sainsbury's customers will receive a 9.9 per cent rate on all purchases and balance transfers with no fees, which could be used as a debt solution.

Consumers could transfer any outstanding debts they may have onto the card as little interest will be accrued, which could make it easier to repay.

Benefits of the card include free family travel insurance worth £250, interest free cash withdrawals and advances, including those made abroad, and double nectar points on all purchases made at Sainsbury's.

Stuart McKeggie, head of Sainsbury's Credit Cards, said: "Up until now cards aimed at travellers have been designed for use outside the UK, offering no benefit for those using them at home, therefore the Sainsbury's Gold Credit Card is the first to offer real benefits both home and abroad."

The firm recently found that the nation puts about £5.6 billion onto credit cards in order to pay for a holiday.
