Avoid getting into holiday debt problems by' sticking to a budget'

- Tuesday, 6 July 2010

Families can avoid getting into debt problems through spending money on going on holiday by sticking to a budget.

Bob Atkinson, travel expert from Travelsupermarket.com, believes that all consumers including those on modest incomes can afford to go away without getting into debt problems.

He said: "Anybody should be able to holiday this summer at some quite low prices as long as [you] are savvy, shop around, use price comparison websites to compare the deal, travel mid-week wherever you can, and set yourself a final budget.

"If you stick to those, then you shouldn't have to incur huge debts to be able to go on holiday."

Furthermore, holidaymakers should be ruthless in ensuring that they do not go over their set budget in order to avoid financial difficulty, he added.

According to research from Santander Cards published on July 3rd, prices of holidays increase from mid-July to mid-august, when school children are on vacation.ADNFCR-2300-ID-800000139-ADNFCR
