Brits, including those with debt solutions, shopping online for holidays

- Thursday, 14 April 2011

Brits, including those with debt problems, are increasingly shopping online for holidays.

That is according to AA Travel Insurance, which stated that millions of Brits will be taking advantage of the upcoming bank holidays to enjoy an 11-day break, as they will only need to take three days off work.

Mark Huggins, director of AA Travel Insurance, said: "Given that nearly half of travellers (47 per cent) say that the economic situation means they are being careful about how much they spend, it's perhaps not surprising that well over half (55 per cent) look for the best deals by searching for their holiday online."

He added that just 18 per cent of Brits will use a traditional travel agent to book their holiday.

Brits paying off debt problems could find cheap holiday deals at European destinations, especially if the booking is made late.

Many people may be choosing to getaway over the next few weeks due to the Easter bank holidays, the Royal Wedding and May bank holidays.

On April 29th, Prince William and Catherine Middleton will be getting married at Westminster Abbey. It has been made a public holiday.
