Brits use DIY to manage debt
Brits use DIY to manage debt
- Wednesday, 29 April 2009UK debt management efforts are seeing a trend towards DIY for two-thirds of cash-strapped Britons, it has been revealed.
Home decorating website housetohome explains that it has seen an increase in interest in DIY jobs from its users.
But taking on large tasks - rather than paying a professional - could actually harm households' ability to
manage debt.
Content editor Ben Richards says: "As well as being potentially dangerous, it could cost you more than the original job to fix any DIY mistakes."
"There is a big difference in painting a wall to tackling a plumbing job," he adds.
Mr Richards encourages those who are looking to DIY in order to save money to research any jobs before they begin work.
By doing so, homes across the country can help to ensure that DIY mishaps do not hamper
UK debt management efforts on the whole by running up costly repair bills.
