Creative Brits plan to save at least £100 this Christmas
- Monday, 6 December 2010Resourceful consumers are planning to save money this Christmas by making their own gifts this year, which may help them avoid
debt problems.
According to the latest survey by NS& I at least 34 per cent of Brits are planning to make their own presents and decorations this year, which could save them as much as £108.
It was also found that 68 per cent have set a limit with their friends and family about how much they can spend on presents.
A further 22 per cent have already started to cut down on their spending, on things such as coffee or taking taxis, in the hope of saving money in time for Christmas.
Tim Mack, savings spokesman for the firm, said: "This is not about people dreaming of a 'tight Christmas' but about each of us doing a bit more planning and being a little bit more enterprising over the next four weeks."
According to the Co-operative Bank, 60 per cent of consumers are not willing to get themselves into
