Debt advice could help Brits kick pessimism

Professional debt advice could help Britons become more optimistic.

Figures from Scottish Widows have revealed that 66 per cent of the UK public are either pessimistic or very pessimistic about the economic climate.

Furthermore, 37 per cent are negative about their personal short-term financial situation, with 36 per cent concerned about the long-term.

Alison Morris, head of commercial management at Scottish Widows, has said that while the figures are of little surprise, it is important that people begin to address the situation.

She commented: "It's not surprising that the nation is feeling downbeat considering the economic turmoil that the country has been through in recent months.

"This could also be the ideal time for people to review their finances and really sort out their priorities."

Aside from financial concerns, the survey also found that only 45 per cent of the public were optimistic about their long-term health, although all seems well at home with 68 per cent of people confident about family life.
