Debt advice could help people with New Year 'financial hangover'

Debt advice could help people with New Year 'financial hangover'

- Monday, 14 December 2009

The indulgence often enjoyed during the Christmas period could see a number of consumers suffering financially in the New Year, it has been warned.

That is according to the price comparison site Moneynet.co.uk, which suggests that people who are concerned about how much money they have for the holiday period should ensure they only use authorised loans.

People who do spend more than they can afford could consider seeking debt help following the Christmas festivities in order to regain control of their finances.

Andrew Hagger, of Moneynet.co.uk, said: "With all those presents to pay for plus additional parties and nights out celebrating with family and friends, by getting paid earlier than usual it's even easier to lose track of your finances."

He went on to say that a failure to check the state of a current account or a tendency to spend nonchalantly could cause people run out of money and face "hefty bank charges" in 2010.

People could save up to £155 is they stay in control of their finances and within their overdraft limits.
