Debt advice to rise as more people worry?

Debt advice to rise as more people worry?

- Wednesday, 25 November 2009

An increasing number of Britons are struggling with financial concerns, which are in turn affecting their health, it has been revealed.

Research by CreditExpert found that there has been a rise in stress-related illnesses among the population as a result of mounting monetary problems caused by the recession.

This could impact upon the number of people seeking debt help in the future.

The problem has been dubbed "recession strain injury", and can cause neck, shoulder and arm pain as well as pins and needles.

Chris Tapp, director of the charity Credit Action, said more people than ever had financial concerns.

He commented: "A lot of people have lost jobs, a lot of people are worried that they will lose their job and so even those people that don't have a financial problem right now are worried about what the future might hold for them."

Mr Tapp went on to describe the trend as "quite a serious problem".

According to a report from SimplyHealth published earlier this year, more than half of Britons are working through illness through fear of losing their jobs.
