Debt management could enable families to secure holiday plans

Debt management could enable families to secure holiday plans

- Thursday, 13 August 2009

Families that seek out professional debt management advice could find themselves abler to afford their summer break.

According to recent figures released by Tesco Personal Finance, two-fifths of British families are yet to book their summer holiday, of which a third suggest finances are the cause of the delay.

For some families, the financial struggle has become such that they are prepared to take their children out of school in order to secure a cheaper trip.

A spokesperson for Tesco Travel Money said: "In the current climate, the luxury of booking a summer holiday has not been a priority for many parents. In particular, booking in advance is not a possibility.

"Many people are waiting to see if their finances can stretch to a break this year and families are even going to the extremes of taking their children out of school so they can afford the holiday they need."

Research carried out by London Gatwick Airport found that 70 million days of holiday are ruined every year by people worrying about work instead of relaxing, as reported by the Daily Mail.
