Debt management overtakes weight loss in New Year resolutions

Debt management overtakes weight loss in New Year resolutions

- Friday, 8 January 2010

Debt management concerns are overtaking weight loss plans in many people's New Year Resolutions.

A countrywide survey by organisation Weight Watchers found the traditional resolution of vowing to lose weight after the festive season has been replaced with a goal of managing stretched finances, reports the Daily Mail.

When asked the question of what they would most like to change in 2010, one in three respondents said not having enough money. Twenty-eight per cent stated losing weight.

Of the respondents questioned for the survey, nearly half (46 per cent) expressed the belief that the key to meeting their resolutions in the year ahead will be willpower.

Recent research reveals that many people are committing to debt management and are choosing to save in the face of an uncertain economy.

The average UK household saved 8.6 per cent of their income in the three months to September, the highest level for any quarter in over a decade according to the Office for National Statistics.
