Debt problems could rise for tardy credit seekers
- Wednesday, 18 November 2009People who intend on acquiring credit in order to navigate their way through the financially challenging festive period must act fast, one expert has warned.
Andrew Hagger, a spokesperson for the price comparison site Moneynet.co.uk, said that time is running out for people hope to secure a new credit card before Christmas.
Those who are in need of credit ahead of the big-spending holiday, but do not receive a new card in time could find they come to rely on
debt advice in the new year as a result of unauthorised spending on existing loans.
Mr Hagger said: "It's going to take you a couple of weeks to get [a zero per cent purchase card and] you're going to be pretty close to Christmas, so you'll have to do that pretty quickly."
According to research from Paypal, approximately 27 million people will do their Christmas shopping online this year.
