It's 'healthy' to discuss debt problems with others
- Monday, 8 November 2010It is a good thing for people to discuss their
debt problems with family and friends as they can get more support.
That is according to Jasmine Birtles, founder of moneymagpie.con, which contains information about making and saving money.
She said: "It's a much better thing to talk about debt, so that firstly you can get support from your friends so you don't have to keep up a front and get into more debt."
"Very often you will find that the people you thought were doing very well actually aren't either. It can help other people if you talk about your debts."
Ms Birtles made these comments after uSwitch.com revealed that Brits now feel less shame about having
debt problems.
The price comparison site found that 33 per cent of consumers believe there is no shame in debt and a further 18 per cent feel the same about bankruptcy.
Another 23 per cent were comfortable with discussing their
debt problems with others.
