New debt advice service launched

New debt advice service launched

- Wednesday, 6 April 2011

Consumers worried about getting into debt problems through large energy bills could take advantage of a new online service.

The Citizens Advice Bureau and Ofgem have teamed up to launch their Energy Best Deal service online.

Through this service, Brits will be able to get advice on how to keep their energy bills down and how to cope with any debt problems that are a result from these bills.

There are also some videos on the site, which show consumers how to deal with doorstep sales men, debt and disconnection.

John Rhodes, head of financial capability at Citizens Advice, said: "This will help give even more people the confidence to get the right deal.

"At a time when utility prices are once again rising, it is particularly important that hard pressed consumers don't spend more than they need to."

Price comparison site uSwitch.com recently advised Brits to switch to a cheap energy deal online as soon as possible, as the cheapest tariffs are being withdrawn from the market.
