Pensioners 'need free debt advice'
Pensioners 'need free debt advice'
- Wednesday, 10 June 2009It is essential that elderly people are given access to free advice on debt, according to Citizens Advice.
The organisation explains that many pensioners are keen to learn more about issues relating to their mortgage, or schemes such as equity release.
However, with many such people living on fixed budgets,
free debt advice may be needed if they cannot afford an independent financial adviser who charges full rates.
Research conducted by Citizens Advice found that 85 per cent of elderly people who were given free advice on debt and other issues gained peace of mind through the process.
People of any age looking for similar peace of mind could find the
DebtFixers debt helpline to be one option.
The freephone
debt helpline number - 0800 707 6109 - allows individuals with unmanageable debt to speak to a
DebtFixers adviser about the ways they might be able to resolve their financial situation.
