Shop around for cheaper home phone bills

Shop around for cheaper home phone bills

- Wednesday, 22 September 2010

Consumers living with debt problems could make savings on their home phone bills by shopping around for the best deals online.

Michael Phillips, product director at HomePhoneChoices.co.uk, stated that people are not switching regularly and line rental is becoming the "forgotten bill."

He said: "Home phone customers who do not regularly shop around are missing a trick as it is incredibly easy to switch nowadays.

"The best deals are to be found online but many come with a lot of hidden costs (call connection fees for example), so it is important to use a reliable Ofcom-accredited price comparison site to compare packages by postcode."

Other tips for saving money on a phone bill is paying by direct debit as the majority of providers will charge for cash or card payments.

Paperless billing can also help people save money as some firms charge for paper bills.

From October 1st, customers - including those living with debt problems - could be faced with higher phone bills as some firms such as BT are increasing their prices.
