Those with debt problems can keep energy bills low by searching online

Those with debt problems can keep energy bills low by searching online

- Tuesday, 26 October 2010

Consumers living with debt problems will be able to keep their energy bills low this winter if they search for the best deals online.

That is according to Mark Todd, director of energyhelpine.com, an independent price comparison site focusing on the best gas and electricity deals.

He said: "The best way is to get on [to] your cheapest supplier. The best way to get on to the cheapest supplier is to use a reputable price comparison site and then switch to your cheapest deal on there.

"The cheapest deals are generally internet deals and they are not the fixed deals, they are the variable rate deals."

Therefore, those people living with debt problems who may be concerned about finding the money to pay their energy bills this winter could search for a cheaper deal using the web.

According to uSwitch.com, six out of ten households are concerned about the cost of energy bills this winter.

The firm also found that 20 per cent of households are already struggling to pay their utility bills despite the cold weather not setting in yet.
