Those with debt problems should shop around for best deals

- Friday, 26 November 2010

People with debt problems could save money if they shopped around for the best deals, especially online.

That is according to Tracy North, a spokeswoman for Keikoo, an online shopping and price comparison site.

She said: "Always shop around, just because a retailer claims to be competitive it doesn't mean they're the cheapest.

"Electrical items are particularly confusing for consumers. On average you can save around 12 per cent on these products."

The majority of consumers tend to do their research over the weekend and then purchase goods online on the money, Ms North added.

Therefore, those with debt problems could save money on their Christmas shopping if they browse a number of shops to find the best deals.

Ms North made these comments after uSwitch.com revealed that 96 per cent of consumers take pride in telling others about a great bargain they have bagged.

It was also found that 79 per cent show pride in how little their items cost compared to 21 per cent who boast about how much they cost.
