Vinnie Jones caught up in tax debt problem
- Thursday, 19 November 2009Ex-footballer turned Hollywood actor Vinnie Jones is to be probed over a tax discrepancy of £128,000.
The former Wimbledon player is wanted for questioning by liquidators following the winding up of Vinnie Jones Enterprises Ltd by the High Court at the request of HM Revenue and Customs following and unpaid tax bill of £128,321, reports the Sun.
The tax bill relates to the period 2006 to 2009.
Liquidator Ian Defty told the news provider: "It's our duty to investigate the activities of Vinnie Jones, the causes for the failure and to seek recovery of any assets."
Mr Jones has insisted that he has had nothing to do with the company since the start of the disputed period and that the
debt problems are the fault of a now-deceased colleague.
He said: "I have had nothing to do with the company since 2006. The partner who kept it going has died. Accountants are sorting it out."
Should the liquidators feel Mr Jones acted improperly, the Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels star could be liable to pay the full instalment.
