Without the legal document a number of people could, in death, jeopardise family members' financial future.
In the absence of the binding document, funds could be misallocated and potentially leave the non-beneficiaries in financial difficulty and in need of
debt management help.
In circumstances of death among unmarried couples, the children inherit all of the deceased's estate, potentially leaving the partner with nothing.
Peter McCarthy, Which? Legal Service senior lawyer, said: "Our research shows that too many people are suffering from will apathy' and don't get round to making a will, which could have serious consequences for those left behind.
