Woman's debt problems solved by reality TV

Woman's debt problems solved by reality TV

- Thursday, 22 April 2010

The owner of a failed catering company has solved her financial problems after finding debt help in the most unlikely of places.

According to the Telegraph, Zofia Willis was able to get on top of her money issues after swapping lives with well-off counterpart Julia Prankard in popular television series How the Other Half Live.

The failure of Zofia's business saw her debt problem skyrocket to almost £10,000 and, facing eviction, she and her daughter found themselves among the four million living in poverty in the UK.

However, after swapping lives, Zofia and Julie - who runs a multi-million pound business - became friends and she helped Zofia on the road to a debt-free life by sponsoring her, the newspaper reports

Zofia was able to re-launch her catering company, pay off her debts, and regain the confidence she lost after her last venture.

She told the Telegraph: "Her belief in me was really what gave me the confidence to have another go… I had no idea how quickly debts would mount once one thing went wrong. Within such a short time I went from being a woman who had never owed a penny to being mired in debt."

The average household debt in the UK currently stands at £58,000 including mortgages.
