Youngsters can reduce student debt by working while studying

Youngsters can reduce student debt by working while studying

- Thursday, 14 April 2011

Youngsters worried about accruing debt problems while they are at university may want to work while they study.

That is according to Steve Burford, founder of wealthystudent.co.uk, which is aimed at helping students manage and stay in control of their money.

He said: "Prove your worth, start building your skills and make yourself indispensable.

"You'll then have money coming in at university and won't have a problem finding a job when you leave."

If a student works while studying they may not have to take out a loan to fund their education or living costs and gain some valuable skills that will make them attractive to employers when they graduate.

Mr Burford made these comments after the TUC predicted on April 12th that students will be left with thousands of pounds worth of debt problems.

That is because the government has refused to change the interest rate on student loans from the retail price index to the consumer price index.
